Tritonia

This is a lovely South African bulbous plant with narrow grass-like leaves and wiry stems bearing many open rosy-pink flowers, 2cm across, in high summer, looking rather like short Dierama (Angel's Fishing Rod). In sun and well drained soil, they soon clump to produce a rewarding display each year. I think that Tritonia look especially good when planted alongside lower growing grasses such as Stipa tenuissima, or positions atop a wall in in an alpine bed. It's a good alternative if you are seeking a real pink Crocosmia - there's no such thing, but this is a close match! (a former name was Crocosmia rosea)
