One of my real favourites, 'Star of the East' is a unique Crocosmia, bearing huge, side-facing orange-yellow blooms in late summer, up to 4 inches (10cm) across and flowering after many other forms have long-finished. The leaves are olive-green and unpleated. It prefers a sunny position and well drained soil, and tends to 'wander' around the border rather than forming a dense clump. A late season show-stopper!
